For over 30 years, the Duty Free City team has been a driving force in global travel retail, partnering with major operators and leading airlines.

 

Our founder, Philippe Dray, was an innovator in the industry, introducing the first children’s fragrance under the Disney license to the travel retail market. In 2012, Duty Free City (DFC) opened its first flagship store in San Diego, rapidly expanding throughout Southern California and Texas. Our mission was clear: to offer consumers the convenience and accessibility of enjoying their favorite brands at affordable prices.

 

Following the 2008-2009 recession, major investments in airport infrastructure signaled an opportunity for us to grow and define our brand. Our vision was to recreate the department store experience within airports, offering travelers an elevated shopping journey without the

usual airport markups.

 

This vision led to the launch of La Boutique stores, in partnership with DF Express, LLC. Together, we aimed to provide a curated selection of beauty and travel essentials at competitive prices, embodying our Travel Preferred Pricing (TPP™) concept. 

 

TPP™ grants automatic membership to travelers shopping at any La Boutique store or on our website, ensuring they enjoy prices better than those found at department stores or even high street retailers. This partnership allowed us to diversify our brand portfolio and collaborate with global names.

 

Our success has opened new avenues, including partnerships with private airports. As we continue to expand, Duty Free Holdings remains committed to serving the needs and desires of sophisticated travelers of all ages, enhancing their journey every step of the way.
